Michigan LARA CME Requirements for Osteopathic Physicians

MI LARA Audit – 12/18/25 (MI LARA notice)

If you have been notified by MI LARA you are being audited and have not yet reported all your CME in your CE Broker account, you must submit all required CME hours into your account at www.cebroker.com within the next 30 days.  You can use the following link to access your Free CE Broker Account, https://cebroker.com/audit-invite/21418376.

Once you have reported your hours to CE Broker, no further action is required on your part. CE Broker will notify you via e-mail if additional information is needed. Once your audit is complete, you will receive an email from CE Broker.

License Renewal Cycle: 3-years

150 hours - A minimum of 60 hours must be earned through MI LARA Category 1 programs, and 40 hours must be AOA approved.  Learn more about the requirements at R 338.143 (pages 10-11).

The following requirements must be met prior to your license renewal date, each 3-year cycle:

✔ Implicit Bias Training

✔ Medical Ethics: 1 hour
✔ Pain and Symptom Management: 3 hours (1 hour must include controlled substance prescribing)

 One-Time ONLY Training Includes:

Human Trafficking Training – Beginning with the 2017 renewal cycle and all renewal cycles thereafter,
licensees seeking renewal must certify on their renewal application that prior to renewing their license they
have completed a one-time training in identifying victims of human trafficking that meets the standards in
Administrative Rule R 338.120.

✔ Opioids and Controlled Substance Awareness Training - Beginning with the 2022 renewal cycles and all renewal cycles thereafter, controlled substance licensees or individuals who are licensed to prescribe or dispense controlled substances must certify on their renewal application that prior to renewing their license they have completed a 1-time training in opioids and controlled substance awareness that meets the standards established in Administrative Rule R 338.3135.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Registrants for a Michigan Osteopathic Association continuing medical education program must submit requests for refunds in writing via email or by mail to the Association’s office. Requests for refunds must be in writing at least two weeks prior to the program and will entitle registrant to a full refund less a $50 processing fee. Refund requests received less than two weeks prior to the program will not qualify for a refund of the registration fees. Program brochures/registration forms and MOA web site shall include this information.

Grievance Policy
The MOA shall accept comment and criticism regarding its CME programs. It shall address and resolve grievances regarding its CME activities. A criticism or concern reported anonymously on CME evaluation forms shall not be deemed a grievance; however, such complaints will be reported to the CME speakers and will be presented to the MOA Education Committee for discussion, validation or resolution as appropriate and reported to the MOA Board of Trustees in the MOA Education Committee Board report. A CME complaint or concern provided in writing or presented verbally by an identified individual registrant of an MOA CME program to an MOA CME official shall be deemed a grievance and shall be forwarded to the MOA Education Committee for resolution; CME speakers involved shall be notified of the concern. The resolution shall be reported to the MOA Board in the MOA Education Committee Board report and followed by a letter to the aggrieved acknowledging the grievance and providing the actions taken to resolve the grievance. If the MOA Education Committee is unable to resolve the issue, it shall be forwarded to the Board of Trustees for final disposition. Where possible and necessary the appropriate changes will be made and recorded in accordance with the MOA policy.
